My Red Jackson is the queen of my collection… I found this at Alto Music in Wappinger’s Falls a hundred years ago… It was behind a wall shelf unit that I happened to reach behind because I though I saw something… It was this red Jackson tucked away. The store didn’t have a record of it, and they sold it to me for $300 cash with a hard shell case.
Best. Guitar. Ever. Floyd Rose tremolo, custom EMG pickups, and a sustainer pickup. Such an incredible find. A true case of the wand picking the wizard…
Only problem is that it has ALWAYS pulled sharp. I’ve brought it to so many shops and techs to get work done, to no avail.
Then I met Jeremy at Rudy’s in Soho. Wow. Jeremy is an artisan… he’s the type of guy who really cares about the work he’s doing. He’s knowledgeable, communicative, and shows a great enthusiasm for his work. There was so much he knew about my guitar from his first glances and touches. He pointed out things that were bothering my playing even though I could not consciously articulate those issues. Jeremy adjusted and repaired things, with my permission, that ended having an incredibly positive effect on the guitar.
Sometimes I feel like a tech person is going to do what I asked them to do… With Jeremy, I told him how I needed the guitar to play, and he told me what needed to be done.. and did it! His starting rate was reasonable, and extra charges for further recommended work were fair and reasonable.
On top of that, his work was prompt!
He did an incredible job with the electronics and wood work on my Jackson. He fixed some broken connections, adjusted some high frets, added some shims to match the neck and bridge geometry… The guitar has never played better.
Here’s the deal with the Floyd Rose… I play a lot of Rush, which needs a nicely balanced and responsive tremolo system. Plus, I have a lot of Satriani, Vai, Vivian Campbell, and Randy Rhoads in my blood, so I need to do dive-bombs and heavy pull-ups on the trem. Jeremy has this tuned up to the point where I can do anything I want with the bar and it springs back into perfect tune. Amazing.
I can’t rave enough about how wonderful it is to FINALLY have the Jackson in the shape I’ve always wanted. Thank you, Jeremy!
If you need some excellent guitar work done, I recommend you contact Jeremy straightaway.
